Former Minister of Information and Culture criticizing the government and said; vacancy seat of Afghanistan in the Cultural Organization caused to register miniature art in the name of other courtiers.

Sayed Makhdum Rahen former Minister of Information and Culture posted on his Facebook page that deputing of the UNESCO's seat for representing of Afghanistan miniature art, to the Afghan ambassador in Paris, caused our relations got worse with this organization. by criticizing the government inadvertency, he said when Afghanistan's seat in UNESCO is vacant, it is funny that other countries to register the miniature art one the World list of intangible art, which is based in Herat.

Mr. Rahen wanted from government to appoint a qualified person for Afghanistan's UNESCO representative office, who has Islamic knowledge, history and national culture, as well as world class civilian intellectual knowledge. The former Minister of Information and Culture emphasized that due to extensive duties of the country's representative office in the UNESCO Cultural Organization, the Embassy of Afghanistan in Paris will never be able to attend fully all the meetings of the organization. He believes that reducing the credibility of the country's representative office in UNESCO is reducing the credibility of Afghanistan.

Miniature art was registered on the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List by Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, while many countries in the cultural sphere of ancient Iran were vacant. This action caused Afghan government to protests and the Ministry of Information and Culture formally complained that Afghanistan was not named as one of the heirs of miniature art in UNESCO. The ministry wanted from UNESCO to register miniature art as a common cultural heritage of Afghanistan and related countries based on the principle of Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Information and Culture emphasized that announcement for registration of miniature art in the World Heritage List is in clear violation and provisions of the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and creates an atmosphere for lack of cultural cooperation between countries.

A number of artists and cultural activists from Herat province at a protest treated the hastily action of UNESCO, which ignores the birthplace of miniature art.

meanwhile in the 15th session of the UNESCO World Committee for Intangible Cultural Heritage, miniature art was registered as the 15th intangible heritage of Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
