During this year, 301 female media workers lost their jobs

Afghan Journalists Safety Committee says that in the second half of this year, 301 female media workers lost their jobs for various reasons.

The committee said in a statement on the occasion of National Day of Journalists, journalists, media workers and the media are facing unprecedented and serious security and financial problems, especially with regard to the future of freedom of expression in Afghanistan. According to this committee, targeted attacks on journalists, which began in November 2020, have so far claimed the lives of nine journalists and media workers.

"The negative effects of targeted attacks on journalists have limited the work of journalists and the media in producing content and information, with the adverse economic effects of the outbreak of the coronavirus spreading," the Afghan Journalist Safety Committee said in a statement.

on the latest statistics of this committee regarding presence of women in the country's media show that 301 women in the second half of 1399, as a result of security threats, especially recent targeted, financial problems due to the Corona virus and low salary, They have left or lost their duties.

Afghan Journalists Safety Committee, while deeply concerned about the current situation, has called on the government to conduct serious investigations into the murders of journalists and media workers in order to put an end to the impunity for crimes against journalists. The committee also expects the government and international institutions to implement the recommendations of the country's media community regarding the protection of freedom of expression during peace negotiations.

Afghan Journalists Safety Committee notes that the cases of the murder of journalists and media workers have been seriously pursued, but that the process of sharing information by security agencies about these cases is unsatisfactory.
