First trilateral meeting between Afghanistan, United States and Tajikistan was held

The ministry of foreign said the first trilateral meeting between Afghanistan, United States and Tajikistan was held by video conference with the participation of Afghan and Tajik Foreign Ministers Sirajuddin Mehraldin and US Deputy Secretary of State David Hill.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a press release yesterday, in the trilateral meeting discussed on political, security and economic cooperation and expressed their views on strengthening cooperation in order to achieve the common priorities and interests of the three countries.
Mr. Atmar said, the government leadership is ready to shape the process of political participation based on the methods provided for in the constitution, including early elections. On the other hand, Tajikistan and the United States, while declaring their strong support for the peace process, emphasized the preservation of human rights achievements, including women's rights. The three countries also discussed continuing their joint fight against terrorist groups, criminal gangs and drug traffickers using regional cooperation mechanisms.
Both sides discussed on strengthening border cooperation, exchanging information, implementing Security Council resolutions, and strengthening law enforcement agencies as part of joint cooperation to curb drug trafficking and organized crime at the border, and emphasized bilateral and trilateral cooperation in this area.
