The Human Rights Commission said regarding on prohibition of girls singing over the age of 12, that all children, both boys and girls, can exercise their rights equally and freely within the law.

The commission says, right of education, freedom of expression and access to artistic skills are the fundamental rights of all children, without discrimination based on age or sex.

According to news, all boys and girls can use their rights equally and freely within the law. Any restriction on the rights and freedoms of children is contrary to the general principles of human rights, the Convention of Child Rights and national laws of Afghanistan, especially Constitution Law and Child Protection Rights.

The commission says any decision by the Ministry of Education to refuse for participation of children in public meetings and programs, to celebrate and entertain, is to uphold the principles of freedom, equality and the best interests of children, and not promote gender discrimination.

This human rights reaction stems that yesterday, the Ministry of Education announced girls over the age of 12 are not allowed to sing in public.
