Pakistan's foreign minister says Joe Biden's government should play a greater role in the Afghan peace process and not miss the opportunity.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told Al Jazeera that the new US administration led by Mr Biden should play a greater role in the Afghan peace process. He stressed that the opportunity has arisen for a long time and the United States should not miss this opportunity. On the other hand, Pakistani Ambassador to Washington Asad Majid Khan called for more cooperation between Islam and the United States in the Afghan peace process. According to the Pakistani ambassador, Islamabad also does not want Afghanistan to be used against the interests and territory of another country. It has called on the United States to continue to assist in the ongoing peace talks and the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.

Islamabad has called on the new US administration, led by Mr Biden, to abide by and implement an agreement with the Taliban. President-elect Joe Biden took the oath of allegiance at the White House on January 20 this year and officially took the helm of the White House.

Now the Pakistani Foreign Minister has called on Mr. Biden's government to play a greater role in the Afghan peace process and not to miss the opportunity.

But Islamabad's role in the Afghan peace process has always been one of many ups and downs, as these experts believe that Pakistani officials have not given up on supporting the Taliban and continue to do so in full support. The Afghan government has criticized what is being called Pakistan's one-roof, two-air policy, accusing Islamabad of supporting the Taliban against the Afghan government.
