The US senator called an extension for the presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan

The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee says; withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan may be reconsidered because he believes the Taliban have not fulfilled their commitments under the terms of peace agreement with Washington.
The chairman of US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Bob Menendez, said on a news conference, I am concerned about the compatibility of the peace process in Afghanistan. Mr Menendez has stated, he personally believes that the Taliban have not fulfilled their commitments under the peace agreement with the United States.
He stressed, if intelligence reports showed that Taliban had failed to meet their commitments, the deadline for the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan by May 1 should be reconsidered. In peace agreement with Washington, the Taliban pledged to sever ties with terrorist groups, reduce violence and join inter-Afghan peace talks.
The US Department of Defense and Treasury said in a separate report that Taliban had not cut ties with terrorist groups in the region, particularly al-Qaeda, but caused strengthened of this group in Afghanistan. After the new government led by Joe Biden in the United States, Washington announced to reconsider the US agreement with the Taliban.
Meanwhile, US Secretary Anthony Blinken has written to President Ghani to work for a new and inclusive government with other Afghan political leaders. Mr Blinken has warned that if the Afghan peace talks fail and US troops leave, the Taliban could quickly take over more parts of Afghanistan.
